The task was to design a kitchen grinder incorporating the CrushGrind mechanism. The goal was to create a modern, innovative, and ergonomic grinder that stands out aesthetically while ensuring optimal usability.
WHY ?
RESEARCH: Salt and pepper grinders come in a variety of designs, using traditional materials like wood and stainless steel as well as modern options like ceramic and glass. They often feature adjustable grind settings and can be either manual or electric. However, the appreciation for natural materials and craftsmanship appears to be fading away.
NUVEAU aims to highlight the natural feel of materials in different parts, chosen based on their function, while also introducing an innovative way to place the grinder on your kitchen countertop.
HOW ?
The final design combines wood for a smooth ergonomic handle, glass to monitor the salt level, and concrete to replicate the sound of crushing salt grains. Its shape allows the grinder to stand on either side.
The NUVEAU grinder was showcased at the Brno MOBITEX furniture and interior design fair after successfully passing the selection process and making it to the final exhibition.
